This is “Buss” the monkey. During the North Africa campaign he served as the mascot of an RAF squadron stationed in Libya, and routinely flew with the pilots in their American-built Tomahawks. The selection of mascots was a common thing for the RAF (and most units in any of the Allied armies during the war) and was a tradition that dated back to the Great War, when several squadrons of the RAF had a fox, a cat, and a dog serving as mascots.
